Neurodiversity-Affirming Therapy
When I discovered that I was neurodivergent later in life, suddenly everything made sense. Looking back, I struggled with lots of aspects in life but I didn't know why. I assumed that there was something wrong with me. I tried to be like everyone else and masked heavily for many years. Learning about my brain, and allowing myself to feel and express emotions more freely has changed a lot for me. Life still has its challenges, but I no longer carry shame for being different.
This lived experience now deeply informs my work. I support neurodivergent individuals who are navigating anxiety, OCD, burnout, and identity uncertainty. I offer a space where you can show up fully as yourself — without pressure to conform or mask. While I’ll never claim to know exactly what your experience is, I do understand how complex navigating your neurodivergence can feel.
Therapy with me is collaborative and flexible. We go at your pace, and we shape the work around your needs — not society’s expectations. Together, we can explore what’s feeling difficult and look at ways to make life feel a little easier through practicing new skills, setting up helpful adaptations, or exploring and working through any feelings of shame.
How do I ensure that my practice is Neurodiversity Affirming?
My practice is neurodivergent-led. My Clinical Supervisor, whom I consult with on a monthly basis, is a neurodivergent Learning Disability Nurse and Psychotherapist with a specialism in ADHD. I am committed to ongoing learning on neurodiversity including personal reading and attending training sessions. I have led and facilitated many neurodiversity training events within the NHS and schools for multiple years. I believe firmly in collaboration in therapy. You are the expert of you and I will always ensure you have autonomy and choice at every step of the way.
